Cerro Huemul Circuit Hiking Guide: GPX files
Kraig Adams, kraigadams.com

These are my own GPS recordings of my three-day loop on the Cerro Huemul
Circuit from El Chaltén, Argentina, March 6 to 8, 2025. They show the way I
actually walked, in the opposite direction from the park's usual one. All
timestamps have been removed.

Total: 45.6 mi (73.4 km), about 8,070 ft (2,460 m) of climbing and
8,000 ft (2,440 m) down.

IMPORTANT

After a wildfire in January 2026 the park closed most of the circuit (only
Laguna Toro to Paso del Viento and back was allowed). Ask at the park's
visitor center in El Chaltén whether the route is open, and register online
before you go. The tracks are a record of my trip, not an official trail line.

HOW TO LOAD THEM

AllTrails: on a computer, sign in at alltrails.com, create a new map and use
Import to upload the file. The map then shows up in the app on your phone.
Downloading it for offline use needs a paid AllTrails plan.

Gaia GPS: on your phone, open the file from Files, email or AirDrop and choose
Gaia GPS, or on gaiagps.com choose Import. Then download the map area for
offline use.

Garmin: in Garmin Connect (web), go to Training, Courses, Import, and pick the
file. Save it as a course and send it to your watch.

Organic Maps: first download the free offline map for Santa Cruz, Argentina.
Then open the GPX file on your phone and choose Organic Maps. It shows up in
your bookmarks and tracks list and works fully offline.

Before you leave El Chaltén, download offline maps and check that each day
shows up in your app. There's no phone signal on the circuit. Rules and
conditions change: check them before you go. Use this as a guide, not a
guarantee.
