Haute Route Hiking Guide: GPX files
Kraig Adams, kraigadams.com

These are my own GPS recordings of my nine days on the Walker's Haute Route
in August 2025, from Montroc (a short bus ride from Chamonix) to Jungen
above St. Niklaus, where the cable car goes down to the train for Zermatt.
They show the way I actually walked. All timestamps have been removed.

THE FILES

haute-route-day-1.gpx Day 1: Montroc to Trient (9.7 mi / 15.6 km)
haute-route-day-2.gpx Day 2: Trient to Relais d'Arpette (9.4 mi / 15.1 km)

haute-route-day-4.gpx Day 4: Cabane de Louvie to Cabane de Prafleuri (7.8 mi / 12.5 km)
haute-route-day-5.gpx Day 5: Cabane de Prafleuri to Arolla (11.2 mi / 18.0 km)
haute-route-day-6.gpx Day 6: Les Haudères to Cabane de Moiry (8.2 mi / 13.2 km)

haute-route-day-8.gpx Day 8: Cabane Bella Tola to Gruben (8.1 mi / 13.1 km)
haute-route-day-9.gpx Day 9: Gruben to Jungen (8.3 mi / 13.4 km)
haute-route-full-route.gpx All nine days in one file, plus waypoints for
where I slept, the passes, the lifts and the
                             food stops.

The gaps between files are buses, lifts and trains, not trail: Chamonix to
Montroc, Champex to Les Ruinettes (bus, train and two gondolas above
Verbier), Arolla to Les Haudères, Grimentz to Cabane Bella Tola (bus and
the St-Luc funicular), and Jungen to Zermatt (cable car and train).

Cabane de Louvie (end of Day 3) is closed until spring 2028. The guide
explains how to use Cabane du Mont Fort instead.

Total: 78.6 mi (126.5 km), about 27,650 ft (8,430 m) of climbing.

HOW TO LOAD THEM

AllTrails: on a computer, sign in at alltrails.com, create a new map and use
Import to upload the file. The map then shows up in the app on your phone.
Downloading it for offline use needs a paid AllTrails plan.

Gaia GPS: on your phone, open the file from Files, email or AirDrop and choose
Gaia GPS, or on gaiagps.com choose Import. Then download the map area for
offline use.

Garmin: in Garmin Connect (web), go to Training, Courses, Import, and pick the
file. Save it as a course and send it to your watch.

Organic Maps: first download the free offline maps for Switzerland (Valais)
and France (Haute-Savoie). Then open the GPX file on your phone and choose
Organic Maps. It shows up in your bookmarks and tracks list and works fully
offline.

Before you leave home, download offline maps and check that each day shows up
in your app. Trails, huts and timetables change. Use this as a guide, not a
guarantee.
