Longs Peak Hiking Guide: GPX files
Kraig Adams, kraigadams.com

Longs Peak, Colorado, by the Keyhole Route, June 28 and 29, 2022: up from the
Longs Peak Trailhead past Chasm Lake to a night at the Boulder Field, then the
Keyhole, the Ledges, the Trough, the Narrows and the Homestretch to the summit
the next morning, and back down to the trailhead. All timestamps have been
removed.

longs-peak-day-1.gpx Day 1: my own GPS recording. The Longs
Peak Trailhead, Chasm Junction, out and
back to Chasm Lake, Granite Pass and my
                                     camp at the Boulder Field
                                     (8.4 mi / 13.6 km)
longs-peak-day-2-keyhole-route.gpx Day 2: NOT a recording. I didn't record
Day 2. This line is the Keyhole Route
from the Boulder Field to the summit and
back as OpenStreetMap draws it, then my
Day 1 line back down to the trailhead
                                     without the Chasm Lake detour
                                     (about 8.5 mi / 13.7 km)
longs-peak-full-route.gpx Both days in one file, plus waypoints for
the places named in the guide.

stats.json The numbers for each day, and how they
                                     were worked out.

Above the Keyhole there is no trail: the route follows red and yellow
bullseyes painted on the rock. A GPS line up there is only a rough guide.
Follow the bullseyes, and turn back if you lose them.

HOW TO LOAD THEM

AllTrails: on a computer, sign in at alltrails.com, create a new map and use
Import to upload the file. Downloading it for offline use needs a paid
AllTrails plan.

Gaia GPS: on your phone, open the file from Files, email or AirDrop and choose
Gaia GPS, or on gaiagps.com choose Import. Then download the map area for
offline use.

Garmin: in Garmin Connect (web), go to Training, Courses, Import, and pick the
file. Save it as a course and send it to your watch.

Organic Maps: first download the free offline map for Colorado. Then open the
GPX file on your phone and choose Organic Maps. It works fully offline.

Download offline maps before you leave Estes Park or the Front Range: phone
signal on the mountain is unreliable. Camping at the Boulder Field needs a
wilderness permit and a bear canister. Snow and ice are normal on the route
outside about mid-July to mid-September. Check the park's Longs Peak
conditions report before you go. Use this as a guide, not a guarantee.
