MacLehose Trail Hiking Guide: GPX files
Kraig Adams, kraigadams.com

These are my own GPS recordings of the whole MacLehose Trail across Hong
Kong, from Pak Tam Chung to Tuen Mun, January 22 to 28, 2020. They show the
way I actually walked, including my detours off the trail. All timestamps
have been removed.

for the campsites and places named in the guide.
stats.json The numbers for each day, from these files.

Total: 71.4 mi (114.9 km) on foot, about 15,300 ft (4,660 m) of climbing.
The official trail is 100 km (62 mi); my total includes the detours. The
walk back up from Sai Kung to Ngong Ping on Day 3 wasn't recorded. My
recordings keep a point every 10 m or so, so they are a little smoother
than the paths; the distances above are the full recordings'.

HOW TO LOAD THEM

AllTrails: on a computer, sign in at alltrails.com, create a new map and use
Import to upload the file. The map then shows up in the app on your phone.
Downloading it for offline use needs a paid AllTrails plan.

Gaia GPS: on your phone, open the file from Files, email or AirDrop and choose
Gaia GPS, or on gaiagps.com choose Import. Then download the map area for
offline use.

Garmin: in Garmin Connect (web), go to Training, Courses, Import, and pick the
file. Save it as a course and send it to your watch.

Organic Maps: first download the free offline map for Hong Kong. Then open
the GPX file on your phone and choose Organic Maps. It shows up in your
bookmarks and tracks list and works fully offline.

The trail itself is waymarked with numbered distance posts (M001 to M200).
Rules, campsites and conditions change: check them before you go. Use this
as a guide, not a guarantee.
