Madeira Hiking Guide: GPX files
Kraig Adams, kraigadams.com

These are my own GPS recordings of the five hikes from my eight days on
Madeira, April 11 to 18, 2023. They show the way I actually walked. All
timestamps have been removed.

back the way I did. See the guide.

How to use them
AllTrails: on alltrails.com, create a new map and use Import (offline maps
need a paid plan).
Gaia GPS: open the file on your phone and choose Gaia GPS, or use Import on
gaiagps.com.
Garmin: Garmin Connect on the web, Training, Courses, Import, then send it to
your watch or device.
Organic Maps (free): download the offline map for Madeira (Portugal), then
open the GPX file with Organic Maps.

Since January 2026 every classified trail on Madeira (the PR routes: the
PR1, PR8 and PR9 here, and the PR13 at Fanal) needs a 30-minute time slot
booked and paid on the SIMplifica portal before you walk. Check each trail's
status on the IFCN site the day before. The heights in these files are from
AllTrails' terrain model and read lower than the surveyed summits.
