Manaslu Circuit Hiking Guide: GPX files
Kraig Adams, kraigadams.com

These are my own GPS recordings of my ten walking days on the Manaslu Circuit
in Nepal, November 4 to 13, 2022, from Machha Khola up the Budhi Gandaki
valley to Samagaon, with a day walk to Manaslu Base Camp, then over Larkya La
to Bimthang and down to Dharapani. I walked on a group trip with a guide and
porters. The files show the way I actually walked. All timestamps have been
removed.

manaslu-circuit-full-route.gpx All ten days in one file, plus waypoints
for the villages where I slept, Manaslu Base
                             Camp and Larkya La.
stats.json The distance, climbing and heights for each day.

Total: 93.4 mi (150.3 km), about 31,000 ft (9,450 m) of climbing.
High point on my GPS: 16,940 ft (5,163 m), just past the Larkya La sign.

IMPORTANT

On Day 2 my phone's height reading failed for about 2 miles in the gorge
before Deng; that stretch has a straight line of height, so Day 2's climbing
is approximate. One stray GPS point on Day 5 was removed. The trail along
the Budhi Gandaki changes after every monsoon (landslides, new bridges, new
road). Use these files to see where you are and how far it is to the next
village, with a current map, and follow your guide where they differ.

HOW TO LOAD THEM

AllTrails: on a computer, sign in at alltrails.com, create a new map and use
Import to upload the file. The map then shows up in the app on your phone.
Downloading it for offline use needs a paid AllTrails plan.

Gaia GPS: on your phone, open the file from Files, email or AirDrop and choose
Gaia GPS, or on gaiagps.com choose Import. Then download the map area for
offline use.

Garmin: in Garmin Connect (web), go to Training, Courses, Import, and pick the
file. Save it as a course and send it to your watch.

Organic Maps: first download the free offline map that covers central Nepal.
Then open the GPX file on your phone and choose Organic Maps. It shows up in
your bookmarks and tracks list and works fully offline.

Before you leave Kathmandu, download offline maps and check that each day
shows up in your app. Paths, rules and conditions change. Use this as a guide,
not a guarantee.
