Mardi Himal Hiking Guide: GPX files
Kraig Adams, kraigadams.com

These are my own GPS recordings of my four days on the Mardi Himal Trek in
Nepal's Annapurna region, February 3 to 6, 2020: from Kande to Pothana, up
the ridge past Forest Camp and Low Camp to High Camp, up the ridge beyond
the Lower Viewpoint, and down to Sidhing. I walked solo, without a guide, in
February snow. The files show the way I actually walked. All timestamps have
been removed.

THE FILES

mardi-himal-day-01.gpx Day 1: Kande to Pothana (3.1 mi / 5.0 km)
mardi-himal-day-02.gpx Day 2: Pothana to Low Camp (10.6 mi / 17.1 km)
mardi-himal-day-03.gpx Day 3: Low Camp to High Camp, then up toward the
viewpoint in the snow and back (7.1 mi / 11.5 km)
mardi-himal-day-04.gpx Day 4: High Camp to the Lower Viewpoint and beyond,
back down the ridge to Low Camp, then east to
Sidhing (10.9 mi / 17.6 km, two segments)
mardi-himal-full-route.gpx All four days in one file, plus waypoints for
the lodge stops, the Lower and Upper Viewpoints, my
                         high point and Sidhing.
stats.json The distance, climbing and heights for each day.

Total: 31.8 mi (51.2 km), about 10,580 ft (3,225 m) of climbing.
High point on my GPS: 13,055 ft (3,979 m), on the ridge beyond the Lower
Viewpoint.

IMPORTANT

My tracks stop short of the Upper Viewpoint (about 4,200 m) and Mardi Himal
Base Camp (4,500 m): I turned around in deep snow. Day 4 has a short gap below
Badal Danda where my recording paused. The GPS reads a little lower than
published heights. Use these files to see where you are and how far it is to
the next lodge, and follow the marked trail where they differ.

HOW TO LOAD THEM

AllTrails: on a computer, sign in at alltrails.com, create a new map and use
Import to upload the file. The map then shows up in the app on your phone.
Downloading it for offline use needs a paid AllTrails plan.

Gaia GPS: on your phone, open the file from Files, email or AirDrop and choose
Gaia GPS, or on gaiagps.com choose Import. Then download the map area for
offline use.

Garmin: in Garmin Connect (web), go to Training, Courses, Import, and pick the
file. Save it as a course and send it to your watch.

Organic Maps: first download the free offline map that covers Nepal's Gandaki
region. Then open the GPX file on your phone and choose Organic Maps. It shows
up in your bookmarks and tracks list and works fully offline.

Before you leave Pokhara, download offline maps and check that each day shows
up in your app. Paths, rules and conditions change. Use this as a guide, not a
guarantee.
