Picos de Europa Hiking Guide: GPX files
Kraig Adams, kraigadams.com

These are my own GPS recordings of my seven-day solo loop in the Picos de
Europa National Park, northern Spain, October 2 to 8, 2019. I walked it
counter-clockwise from the top of the Fuente Dé cable car and came back to
the same place. They show the way I actually walked, including my detours
and where I camped. All timestamps have been removed.

picos-de-europa-day-7.gpx Day 7: Collado Jermoso to Fuente Dé (5.8 mi / 9.3 km)
picos-de-europa-full-route.gpx All seven days in one file, plus waypoints
for the refuges, villages, the water taps
I marked, food stops and where I slept.

Days 3 and 6 have two tracks each (I stopped and restarted the recording).

The Day 3 track zigzags in the Cares gorge, where the canyon walls block the
GPS signal, so that day's distance and climbing read high. The guide explains.

Total: 94.6 mi (152.2 km) by the recordings, about 31,600 ft (9,640 m) of
climbing (both high because of the Day 3 gorge).

I camped on Days 2, 3 and 4. Camping in the national park is restricted.
Read the rules in the guide before you copy any of my camps.

HOW TO LOAD THEM

AllTrails: on a computer, sign in at alltrails.com, create a new map and use
Import to upload the file. The map then shows up in the app on your phone.
Downloading it for offline use needs a paid AllTrails plan.

Gaia GPS: on your phone, open the file from Files, email or AirDrop and choose
Gaia GPS, or on gaiagps.com choose Import. Then download the map area for
offline use.

Garmin: in Garmin Connect (web), go to Training, Courses, Import, and pick the
file. Save it as a course and send it to your watch.

Organic Maps: first download the free offline maps for Spain (Asturias,
Cantabria and Castilla y León: the park touches all three). Then open the GPX
file on your phone and choose Organic Maps. It shows up in your bookmarks and
tracks list and works fully offline.

Before you leave home, download offline maps and check that each day shows up
in your app. Trails, refuges and timetables change. Use this as a guide, not a
guarantee.
