The guide keeps Kraig’s four-stage personal line separate from longer Jyrgalan / Boz-Uchuk / Almaluu / Ala-Kul / Altyn-Arashan variants and from the more established Karakol–Ala-Kul trek. That distinction is the starting point for a useful plan.

A track shows where one 2025 recording went. It does not establish that the same pass, camp, road, yurt, pickup or crossing is open today. Build a lower-valley fallback and a written communication plan.

Is this the guide for your trip?
For experienced hikers researching a remote Kyrgyzstan route who want firsthand evidence alongside current local and independent route comparisons. The recorded days are a demanding worked example, not a recommended itinerary.
The guide does not turn historical tent pitches, crossings, yurt stays or jeep arrangements into current bookings or permissions. You arrange your own access, navigation, transport, insurance and emergency plan.

Yes, once downloaded. They are historical coordinate-and-elevation files only. Open them in your chosen navigation app and compare them with current offline maps and local conditions before relying on them.
