In May 2019 I hiked alone to Choquequirao in Peru, the remote Inca site often called the sister city of Machu Picchu, about 30 miles in three days with a tent. From the Capuliyoc trailhead above Cachora the trail drops into the Apurímac canyon, crosses the river at Playa Rosalina and climbs past Santa Rosa and the village of Marampata to the ruins, then comes back the same way.
